I got three phone calls this week. Every single one said the exact same thing. Nobody will help me find a place to live.

I want to tell you exactly why that is happening. A realtor gets paid maybe five hundred to a thousand dollars on a rental. By the time the broker takes their cut there is almost nothing left. That is the real reason nobody is calling you back. It is not personal. The math just does not work for most agents.

But I have a problem with that.

Military Families Deserve Better

All three calls were from military families PCSing into San Antonio. Fort Sam Houston. JBSA. Orders in hand. Move date coming fast. Not a single realtor would pick up the phone.

People in my family have served. Military means something to me personally. So when a military family calls me and says nobody will help me — I help them. Every single time.

Here is what I told all three of them. Let me find you a place to land. And if I do a really good job for you would you consider using me when you are ready to buy?

The answer was yes.

What I Found Searching San Antonio

I searched the King William District, Museum District, Pearl District, and Zoo area — zip codes 78212, 78204, 78210, and 78207 — for a family PCSing into Fort Sam Houston. Budget $1,700 to $2,200 a month. Three bedrooms, two baths, garage preferred.

I found ten possibilities. Now I have to call every single landlord and ask if they will do a six month lease. That is hours of work most realtors will not do for a hundred dollar commission. I will do it anyway because that family needs a place to land.
